The Water Calculator is based upon charts created by GardenSoft for each ET Zone based upon historical weather data gathered through the state's CIMIS station program.
The system invites the user to submit their email address to establish a communication loop concerning future seasonal adjustment key settings. That means the home owner only need change the settings once for maximum summertime use and use the seasonal adjust button to back off those setting based upon real time weather conditions. This works wonderfully with the new state CSANS web site. (California Sprinkler Adjustment Notification System). The Water Calculator makes accommodations for controllers that do not have a seasonal adjust button and for very old controllers that have limits to days between cycle starts.
If used in this way the whole system becomes a "step closer to a smart controller" effectively building a technology bridge to the time when a home owner can afford to purchase a real weather based controller.
